Marriage more rewarding after the DIVORCE

Well, you knew this moment was coming. Tiger Woods and wife Elin have finalized their divorce. Although details of the divorce have yet to be released, it is rumored that Elin will receive 100 million in the settlement. The two will share custody of their children.

Statement from the couple:

“We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future,” they said in a statement released by attorneys. “While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us.”

Huntsville, AL resident Antoine Dodson was interviewed by NBC affiliate WAFF-48 News to discuss the recent break-in of his home by a man who tried to rape his sister. Dodson raced to the rescue of his sister but the intruder got away.

Vanity Fair's Lack of Color

Vanity Fair recently issued it's 16th annual Hollywood Issue showcasing America's "so-called" up and coming starlites of hollywood. The only thing they forgot was the inclusion of some black actresses. The cover, done by Anne Leibovitz, only covered white actresses ranging in ages 19-27.

Vanity Fair responded with this statement:

"Deciding who will appear on the Hollywood issue cover – and within the issue itself – is a long process, and one we take seriously. For the young actresses on the cover, both films coming this year and past work were taken into consideration, as were schedules and availability, since we had to shoot all nine actresses in a single day."

I would really hate to call this racism, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...you know the rest.




On the bright side, Fearless Magazine and Publicist Arian Simone, teamed together to showcase their own version of what young hollywood looks like. The cover insludes young black actresses, Lauren London, Monique Coleman, Tia Mowry, Tiffany Hines, Naturi Naughton, Kyla Pratt, Jennifer Freeman, and Chyna Layne.

Proposition 8 Overturned

In San Francisco today a federal judge overturned Proposition 8, a voter approved ballot that banned same-sex marriages. It was decided that gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry. Proposition 8, passed by voters in November of 2008, violated the rights of gays and lesbians to marry the mate of their choice, stated U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker.

The decision is expected to be appealed to the U.S. 9TH Circuit Court of Appeals and then brought before the U.S. Supreme Court. Governor Schwarenegger praised the judge’s decision and felt that the ruling was fair.

The movie Takers is set to be released August 27th and I am determined to have a front row seat. The all-star cast includes; Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Chris Brown, Hayden Christersen, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, Matt Dillion, Jay Hernandez, and rapper Tip "T.I." Harris.

Need I say more? Blood pressure pills will be in full supply. It is just too many FOINE man in this movie for one girl to handle.

Does Love have a COLOR?

It’s amazing to know that even in 2010, interracial love is still considered taboo, especially for women of color. Lately, there has been an increase of black women who have started to date white men and people are still looking at them cross-eyed. Personally, I think love comes in many colors, whether the person is blue, black, or green. As humans, I believe that everyone should take the chance to step out of their comfort zones and explore things that make them happy, and if that just so happens to be a person from another race, so be it.

Aside from staring in the hit movie Avatar, Zoe Saldana is well on her way to being one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses. I love this woman. Saldana is not afraid to take on roles other actresses have rejected and for that, her hard work is paying off.
